The Story Behind the Song

[op_liveeditor_element data-style=””][text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” top_margin=”5″]This song is about overcoming adversity, based on the effects and recovery efforts of all the people affected by hurricane Sandy along the East coast of the United States in 2012.  New Jersey in particular, happens to be particularly dear to us as it is where RY and I were very personally affected.  Our place in Point Pleasant Beach took on about 8 feet of water, totally destroying the ground floor of the house we were renting.  We still consider ourselves very lucky however, as a great many people lost everything they had in that horrific storm.  So, we still got away relatively easy, all things considered.  The way that people in the area came together to help each other through that catastrophe is the real feeling behind this song.  It can’t rain forever.  Sooner or later, the sun will come back out again.[/text_block][/op_liveeditor_element]

It’s been a little while, since I tried to smile
Cause of the fragile state that I’m in
My head is spinning ’round, my heart is bruised and bound
The world is diggin’ down under my skin
But it ain’t gonna break me

The sun has gone away, the sky is dark and gray
I feel a heavy rain about to come down
Now there’s a dirty wind, and it’s blowin’ in
To knock everything down to the ground
But it ain’t gonna shake me

Cause after the rain comes down
That’s when the sun comes out
It burns through the dark gray clouds
And helps me believe that I’m alright

Tonight I’m all alone, nobody else is home
I know the telephone it ain’t gonna ring
I guess I’ll go to bed, and try to sleep instead
So I clear my head of everything
I know my soul won’t forsake me

Woh oh oh oh….

I’ll scratch and I’ll crawl
And I’ll break through the walls in my way, woh oh oh oh…
I ain’t gonna fall, I’ll be standing tall…after the rain
