The Story Behind the Song

[op_liveeditor_element data-style=””][text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” top_margin=”5″]This was the last song for the album, but one of my favorites. The lyrics were 90% done when we rediscovered it. Although the verses are very similar to the demos, much of the chorus was rewritten and tweaked to make sure the melody was exactly how we wanted it.The story behind this song is about someone telling a friend to hold on to their relationship until they have tried everything to save it. In the end, saving a relationship worth fighting for is the most important.

When it comes to guitars, this song could be considered a sister song to “Little Things.” With a strong 16th note feel, both acoustic and electric guitars fill out this one.[/text_block][/op_liveeditor_element]

If you wanna make things better, you gotta go and get her
You gotta swallow your pride to get her back in your life

We all say things that we don’t mean
We fight dirty, then wash our hands clean
You can’t hold on this long, then just let her go

When it feels right it’s so hard to watch things go wrong
(alt. I know it’s so hard to see something right go so wrong)
But don’t walk away
Let her know that you need her if it takes all night long
Just don’t walk away

Well we all have problems, but we learn to solve them
And when hard times shake you, you can’t let them break you

We’ve all done things that we regret
And they say what you give is just what you get
But if she means so much then just let her know

Say I don’t wanna be free, I want you beside me
Even though it’s just so hard to say
She needs something to believe in, cause she’s already leaving
Better give her a reason to stay
