The Story Behind the Song

[op_liveeditor_element data-style=””][text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” top_margin=”5″]Ah, jealousy…the ultimate relationship killer, the grave of affection. Who hasn’t, at one point or another, been the victim of this sickening feeling of resentment and insecurity? Once it gets a hold of you, it’s hard to break free. And it’s just as hard to convince your significant other that there is no reason to feel the way they do. And sometimes, no matter how reassuring you are, both with words and with actions, you can’t convince someone to not feel something. It’s like trying to solve an emotional issue with logic, it just won’t work. No matter what the main character does, his partner is sure he is being unfaithful. It’s this insecurity that causes that same main character to question his partner’s own loyalty. And the vicious circle continues, usually until the inevitable end of the relationship. Trust is extremely important in a relationship. And if it’s lost, it can be incredibly hard to get back.

This was a song born under duress – we needed material for the show and we needed it fast! It was sketched out very quickly and the words were “blocked” out phonetically yet they almost magically took on a life of their own. We tried a rewrite of what we “thought” we wanted – but it just didn’t feel right. What is on the album is what was written that day. [/text_block][/op_liveeditor_element]

Well I don’t know what you’re thinkin’
And I won’t be guessing tonight
And no matter what you’re wishin’
Girl I won’t be pickin’ a fight

But I get caught up in the moment
And I can’t stop seein’ the signs
Honey please stop yelling
Please stop tellin’ lies….

Cause Miss Jealousy keeps calling
And I know what she’s gonna say
She keeps telling me I’m falling
But I won’t be falling today
Oh Miss Jealousy you’re misery
Why can’t you let me go
Oh Miss Jealousy I’m better off alone

And I can’t help feeling guilty
Over things I’ll never forget
I keep thinkin’ about my baby
Keeping warm in somebody’s bed

Now there ain’t no way I can take it
He don’t trust me when I‘m away
Well her heart might brake but I won’t take the blame, oh no

You’d think by now you’d have some trust in me
But everyday I feel you haunting me, Miss Jealousy…solo

Oh Miss Jealousy I’m better off alone
Oh Miss Jealousy I’m better off alone
